The Philippines' First Can Also Be First Among Asians

Founded in September 1991—with its maiden issue rolling off the press in January 1992—Medical Observer is the pioneer Filipino health newsmagazine for the Filipino doctor.

Very quickly it earned the respect of the medical profession and the health-care-pharmaceutical industry, making it today's leading Filipino medical magazine.

Medical Observer's editorial style is a bridge between those of a highly technical medical journal and a general-interest publication. While not void of medical jargon, its articles are easy reading for doctors and lay persons alike. We write both about the scientific and the human and humane sides of medicine.

Medical Observer is the only Philippine health magazine that rries international health, science, and medical stories om the Agence France-Presse, one of the world's lead-g news organizations. The stories are fed as they hap-in by the AFP's headquarters in Paris to Medical Observer's eb site (www.medobserver.com). Some of the news stories and feature articles also appear in the magazine's print edition.

Medical Observer is the only Philippine magazine that has won an international award for editorial excellence from the Society of Publishers in Asia (SOPA). The magazine's April 2001 cover titled The Mask of Sorrow, which dwelt on depression and suicide, was named Best Cover Design in the 2002 SOPA Awards, besting entries from such world giants as Time, Newsweek, Far Eastern Economic Review, Fortune, among other publications.

Today, MEDICAL OBSERVER and its sister company, MEDCOM International Inc., have together produced over 150 editions of Medical Observer and hundreds of symposium highlights that helped health-care companies cascade their message to a broader base of reader in the medical community.
