Mosman Cup set Oct. 25-26, 2008

Mosman Communications Inc. and Growing Kids officially started the countdown to this year’s edition of Mosman Cup, a football tournament for children 16 years old, with a party held last week at Italianni’s Greenbe;t 2, Makati City.

The launch party attracted representatives from health-care and lifestyle companies and advertising agencies, as well as players, parents and football enthusiasts.

In its successful first time edition held October last year, Mosman Cup drew 800 kids from various schools and clubs, including children from a small school run by the Philippine Christian Foundation (PCF) in “Smokey Mountain,” who competed in a even playing field with children from more affluent schools.

Aside from attracting attention of football fans from all walks of life, Mosman Cup was extensively covered by sports journalists from the country’s leading newspapers and television and radio networks.

For this year’s Mosman Cup, Jena Fetalino, president of MOsman Communications, promises bigger, more exciting event for both players and spectators. Not only will the tournament last two whole days, there will also be more specila product offers and surprise activities for tournament attendees, as well as maximum exposure for products and services catering to all football fanatics.

Sanctioned by the  Philippine Football Federation, the second Mosman Cup is slated Oct. 25 to 26 at the Nomads Sports Club in Merville Park, Parañaque City. It will once again be participated in by children’s football clubs and school football teams throughout the country. Entrance to the tournament is free.

Mosman Communication launched the tournament in line with its interest in promoting good health among Filipinos, especially children. Mosman publishes Growing Kids, which serves as a guide for parents in raising healthy children six to 12 years. Growing Kids serves as a companion to Baby Minder, which provides tips on raising kids six years and below. Growing Kids and Baby Minder are available in bookstore nationwide.

Mosman Cup slated at Nomads Sports Club Oct. 25-26

Over a thousand football kids aged 16 years old and below take center stage in the second Mosman Cup slated Oct. 25-26 at the Nomads Sports Club in Merville Park Subdivision in Parañaque City.

Mosman Communications, Inc. president Jena Fetalino officially launched the second edition of the soccer festival Friday night.

“Compared to last year, this year’s edition is going to be bigger and more exciting not only for players but also for spectators,” said Fetalino.

The launch party was attended by media and representatives from health care and lifestyle companies and advertising agencies as well as soccer-playing kids, their parents and football enthusiasts.

Last year, the inaugural Mosman Cup was a smashing success as it drew 800 youth players from various schools and clubs including some from the Philippine Christian Foundation in “Smokey Mountain,” who likewise competed on an even keel with the more affluent schools.

Fetalino said they extended the event from a one-day event last year to a two-day event this year to give the competitors more time to play the world’s most popular sport.

The Mosman Cup is sanctioned by the Philippine Football Federation and supported by Cecon junior, Ellgy, Mizuno, Rhea Mediplast, Oilatum, Physiogel, MPlus Print Graphics, Santa Fe, GO Industry, Rubicon, Ultratech, IPD Awareness Campaign, Dolan FP and Executive Musings DWBR 104.3.

Mosman publishes Growing Kids, which serves as guide for parents in raising healthy children six to 12 years old. It also serves as a companion to Baby Minder, which provides tips on raising kids six years and below.

Both are available in bookstores nationwide.

Mosman Cup draws 16 teams

Over 16 club teams will see action in the 2008 Mosman Cup, which kicks off on Oct. 25, at the Nomads Sports Club field in Merville Park, Parañaque.

Organizers said they expect more participants from the 6- to 16-year-old age-groups seeing action in the two-day soccerfest sanctioned by the Philippine Football Federation.

The tournament is held every October and lures numerous participants from local and international schools in Metro Manila.

Also known as the National Six-a-side Tournament, last year’s competitions saw over 800 kids signing up for the tournament.

Organizers said the event aims to give children an opportunity to enjoy the game of football in a tournament atmosphere.

Set to return to action this year are club teams such as Alabang United, Ateneo FC, Caritas-Don Bosco, Don Bosco Technical College-Mandaluyong, Don Bosco-Tarlac, Futbol Fanatics, Gawad Kalinga, Holistic Educational Center and International School-Manila, Muntinlupa FC, Nomads Junior FC, Paref Southridge, Philippine-Christian Foundation-Tondo, Philippine Army, Poveda, Victory Christian School, Union FC and Xavier School, among others.

Jena Fetalino, president of Mosman Communications, said during Saturday’s launch that the tournament promises to be bigger and more exciting this year.

Registration is free for the tournament, which is backed by Cecon Junior, Ellgy, Mizuno, Rhea Mediplast, Oilatum, Physiogel, Mplus Graphics and Santa Fe.

Partcipating teams will play a series of knockout matches in order to reach the finals of the two-day event.
