Objectives

The event is open to all football groups that support or endorse football among the specified age bracket. The purpose of such an expansive bracket is to give children the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the game of football in all its manifestations, and perhaps adopt the attitudes and physical prowess that can be developed by playing the sport.

It is becoming increasingly important that the Philippines as a nation be given the opportunity to embrace football, as it is a major worldwide sporting phenomenon that the country has been alienated from for quite some time.

Moreover, the probability is high that the Philippines can train extremely capable football players who can carry the country's flag in major events.

This is evidenced by the fact that the somatotypes (body types) and skill sets favoured and exhibited by Filipinos are closely correlated with the biotype of the ideal football player :

  • Speed Agility
  • Heading technique
  • Stamina
  • No height requirements (except for the goalie, who has to be tall)

As a sport that is trained and honed intensively by millions of people worldwide, excelling in football is no easy task. Children will be put to the test physically, and can achieve remarkable levels of physical fitness at an early age. They can become stars among their peers and thereby learn many social skills that will come in handy as they grow and develop further.

Finally, and perhaps more importantly, important human values such as those of teamwork, leadership and camaraderie, can be learnt through playing football.

Participation in the sport also hones the player's ability to analyze a situation quickly and adapt to any sudden changes or threats that might meet the team in question - an intellectual aspect of the sport.

Victories, as well as losses, will have to be dealt with gracefully, and in this respect, a child can begin to teach themselves humility and good conduct.
